IHG - Carrom
Pictures can be view at : Click Here
The first day of carom IHG started early on the 5th Jan lasting all the way through to 11 in the night. With 4 rounds of 3 sets each scheduled on that day, it was rather mind draining for all. Our first match was up against hall 14, a seeder hall with many experienced players. In contrast, our carom team consisted mainly of freshies with no previous experiences and had underwent intensive training just the week before. Although we went down 4-1 in this round, it was thought to be mainly due to a lack of experience rather than skills. Surprisingly, in the remaining rounds, twice we were pressed as the accumulated points from some of the tables were close: we had expected a clearer margin. It was a tense moment for all as we waited anxiously for the remaining tables to finish their 3 sets. Of course, we won the rounds.
Despite the loss in the first match, the carom team persisted and proceeded to won 6 out of the 7 rounds in the first 2 days, thus advancing to the semi finals in which we played against hall 9 on the third day. Although we lost to hall 9, the carom team had put up a good fight against their opposites. Nice job guys!
With the experience in the bag, we are confident that the carom team will be able to do even better in the next IHG. In addition, kudos to the captains and the seniors who have brought together a strong yet young team!
Lastly, let us end off with the carom team’s motto: “Nothing is impossible! Impossible is nothing!” To all remaining IHG games: good luck and whack on!
