Stress over mid-terms?
Worry about finals?
Yearning for some welfare?

Here you go! The long awaited Hall 6 Pre-Examination Goodie Bag is here again!

And guess what, your 25th JCRC Biz-Mag not only knows how to canvass money, she is also going to write a blogpost for hall 6 for the first time! (Please pardon my poor command of english)

So... the 25th JCRC Business Manager Subcommitte had gathered outside the JCRC room on 21 March 8pm to prepare the biannual pre-examination goodie bag to all Hall 6 residents. If you do not know, Hall 6 has a different goodie bag culture compared to most of the other NTU halls of residence.

In Hall 6, every resident is entitled to one goodie bag each and each of you also enjoy the luxury of having the goodie bag delivered to your door step! For other halls, you have to come down to collect your own goodie bag and you got to be quick or you'll miss out on the freebies!

Now let us take a look at the packing process!

As we drop drop drop the items into 600 bags...

while your Biz-Mag continues to give out more items...

Cartons of sponsored drinks (Taste great when chilled!)

Interview with Contract Bridge Player, Bingliang

Q: What were the difficulties you faced when preparing the team for IHRG?There were insufficient players for training. For bridge training to carry on, you will need at least 4 players before you can begin, unlike other Recreational games where you can begin training alone or with 2 persons around. But we still managed to overcome this eventually and even got some alumni to come down and train with us.

Q: What was the IHG experience like for you as a rather new player yourself? It was exciting and quite pressurizing actually- the pressure of winning and all.

Q: How do you think the team can improve its performance in next yr's IHRG?
We can begin by having more frequent trainings and securing more freshies for this exciting recreational game!

Interview with Wei Qi Captain, Liying

1. The Weiqi team has fared better than expected. Why do you think so?

We had a great team this year, with an awesome coach (Kai Yang), strong and experienced seniors who had committed to practicing and playing many games despite their busy schedules, as well as able and dedicated freshmen. They had helped the team ease our way into semis, topping our group.

2. Is there a lack of freshies for next year's team?

I wouldn't know what freshies would come in next year..
But even though 2 extremely talented seniors had just graduated, I am sure there is continuity for Hall 6 Weiqi.

3. Any advice for next year's training/ IHG strategy/ team?

Yup I do have an idea of what the training could be like next year, and I believe the next captain does too :)

Interview with Othello Captain, Yi Wei:

1. Has the team's performance exceeded your expectations, having entered the finals?
YW: The team has certainly outperformed this year, having facing the challenge of two of our best players graduating last year. We also managed to beat Hall 9 in the semi-finals, which is one of our rival halls we haven't beaten in the past few ihrg.
2. What are the challenges you foresee for the team next year and what plans do you have for them?YW: Team renewal is always a challenge as searching or teaching a person othello up to a certain level is not always easy. But with hard work and esposure, I say it can be done! Another challenge we are facing is that rival halls seems to be trying to improve their skills in Othello. So Hall 6 cannot stay stagnant and expect to get into finals again. We must continue to improve ourselves, hone our skills and be more prepared. One way is to participate in Othello Singapore Open games to gain more exposure

3. Anything to comment about this year' s IHG experience?YW: I feel that this year we have been caught surprised by our rival halls' standard. They are certainly getting more competitive. That's why I believe that we need to train more, train smart. Old formulas that have help us earned thropies may not work anymore as other halls get ahead of us. We must constanly renew our teaching/learning/training methods to keep ourself competitive. Most importantly, we must hunger for those thropies.

4. Any advice to give to the freshies?
YW: Freshies, this is IHG. As seniors graduate, it will be up to you to carry on the baton. After this IHG, there will always be the next IHG, and the one after next. So even after this year's IHG has ended, let's continue to train together and be better prepared for the next. As ex-president Xiao Fang likes to say, whatever you give to Hall 6, Hall 6 will give back to you. cheers!
