The first hockey match of the IHG season kicked off today, with the hockey girls armed with their sticks and ready to whack hard.

The main goal on their minds: score early, settle early. And they managed to do just that in their starting match against hall 11, sending in a goal early in the 1st half. 1-0 and our girls take the win!

Next up, progressing on to the winner’s pool, the girls found themselves up against a tough challenge: hall 16. Yet, our hockey girls fought hard and hall 16 found themselves pushed by us, the underdog. Despite our efforts, the opposing team managed to swoop in with a goal right near the end of the game. The game ended with a score of 0-1 but there’s no denying that our girls put up an awesome game.

Finally, we had our last match of the day and we found ourselves faced with hall 11 yet again. Do or die. We badly needed the win to move on.

“Go into the match forgetting how you won hall 11. Go into it remembering how you lost to hall 16.” Our sports director, Ang Sze Ling’s words echo the lack of complacency in the hockey girls. Nothing to be taken for granted.

We got off to a shaky start but managed to win the game eventually with a score of 1-0. Hello Quarter Finals.
