Hall 6 vs Hall 1
2 :3

After the defeat from Hall 1 last episode, Hall6 badminton dropped into the loser pool. So What?!, Hall6 went back to their special forces training at 老地方.
On 15 Jan 2011, Hall 6 Badminton Team once again enter the arena, competing against Hall 7.
HALL 6 !!!!!
1st match, Hao Rang fought well in singles. He made the opponent run up and down just as he suffered the same fate. He was so aggressive that his shoes ran out of friction causing him to slipped when he dived to save killer shot. It was a tough battle for Hao Rang. He was defeated... BUT, our cuttest Hao Rang's smile mesmerized the girls in the crowd. ;)
2nd match, Jen was up against the ferocious tiger across. Her 玉女剑法 stunt the opponent during the initial phase. Like Hao Rang, her shoe lost friction in the early stage, causing her to perform skid while playing, suffering "Ba Lu Gu" on both knees. . Unable to acquire balance, she struggled to perform. Then, our vice-captain, Gare say ",,,," (He meant to change her shoes.) A TIME-OUT was called. Hall6 badminton team gathered to find size UK X (feet size - confidential). Fortunately, Ying Han's shoe fitted her feet nicely. On the spot, Jen replaced her footwear. Within moments, she is good to go. "孩子" yelled Hall6 Supporters as she carried on to battle the second match of singles.  However her shots were unable to land within the boundaries. It was a close fight between the ladies. Jen lost.
After the female singles, the conveyors called for a (long) time out in the competition. After witnessing so many slipping, falling and ba lu gu forming, a MOPPING session was conducted. All participating Halls helped the conveyors to restore the badminton courts into good shape (non-slippery/dusty) before competition proceed again. It was like "" for sport hall 3 before CNY, a display of friendship, teamwork and harmony among competitors.
Ding... Ding... Ding..Tension restored as 3rd match began. Gare and Kah Hong were up. Our competitors were gentle giants --> Tactics used were short-ranged combat, dropping and tapping. Kah Hong and Gare, despite attaining 75% 公力of the killer smash from MASTER CHAN WEI JIE, hardly had any  opportunity to . It was smart play by the opponents. Nevertheless, Kah Hong and Gare struggled to reduce points differential. Opponents' advanced level of dropping skill, 让我们得心服口服.
Yes, by now we lost the hope to proceed further in IHG. But this did not stop hungry Ying Han and Sze Ling from braving the 4th match. With acquisition of INTENSE speed and power from squash and tennis, our ladies swung the rackets vigorously as they smacked the cock into opponents' territory, dominating the match throughout. Their ability to "smash" ruleZz the opponents, securing our 1st victory match.
Round 5. Tai Zhong and Sin Yee were up. Number 20 was Hall6 I.VP (Underlying meaning, pls seek Szeling for more info). She displayed her art of service that she mastered during training gracefully, securing a few points conveniently during the match. Most of her tapped shot were unfortunately countered successfully by opponents. On the other hand, Tai Zhong  raced about the court as he yoyo-ed between him and the man across. It was the most intense match played for the day, however we were unable to secure another victory.
Results were out, 4-1. HALL6 Badminton did not make it for Quarters :(. But HEY, looked back at the memories we had. We had a 2 day camp, plus numerous trainings. We were introduced to the game badminton. We learnt about wrist warm-up (which some of us probably never know of), footwork, serve, lob. We chanted drop+net+lift like monks. We learnt how to push, how to drive, how to smash, how to jump smash. We learnt to scoop, to catch(shuttle cock in mid air), to hit against wall. We had the value-added meal  吃到(shuttle cock, aka feeding), and 饱饱 at Korea Restaurant. We ate duck rice beside the lift. We slipped and fell during training, especially our I.VP, Sin Yee. She never give up diving forward to save a shot knowing that there is a slightest possibility, Commendable Fighting Spirit!!! We practiced to make aggressive faces to scare opponent. We yelled in courts. We seen miracle, 见证奇迹. We sprinted on what's red and white, and witnessed ONE running barefooted on the grass around the soccer field. We completed 70 push-ups and 70 sit-ups together. We stretched our 6-pax. From Zero, we may have not become Hero, but we did learnt something about Playing Like a PRO. All this wouldn't have been possible without our Divine Captain, Wave Chan Wei Jie. He organized badminton training immediately after his exams. He ensured that we are fed 饱饱, be it training or meals, taking care of our welfare. He ensured that playgrounds (courts) are available for us to learn and practice. He served us (shuttlecocks) countless time only to hope that we improved quickly for IHG. Imagine to feed 1 person 40 shuttles, 10 person = 400, 1 person 8 set... BUT, he never grumble. Our Captain, Chan Wei Jie truly devoted his heart, body, mind, and soul into developing a strong badminton in Hall6. As the OIympic Creed states:
"The most important thing in the Olympic Games is not to win but to take part, just as the most important thing in life is not the triumph but the struggle. The essential thing is not to have conquered but to have fought well." Pierre de Coubertin (1908)
We trained hard, We participated, We fought well.
Most Importantly, We Had FuNz ! ! !
Ladies and Gentlemen, this is not the end. Hall6 Badminton Team's Journey to IHG 2012 has just begun.
Stay Tuned.;D

Cheers
Kah Hong
