Hall 6 vs Hall 9 [QF]

14^th Jan was our much awaited match against Hall 9 at NIE pitch. Donned in green, our players marched valiantly onto to the green pitch. Our 1 team had only 1 aim, to take down Hall 9.

Sadly to say, I’m not here to deliver a full match report. But this is rather a tribute to our Hall 6 hockey team.

As soon as the Sports directors gotten down to work, Hall 6 hockey’s captain Khairi contacted me, and spammed me with his goals and visions. A week later, the team was up and running for training. Not once, was training cancelled due to poor attendance. The team, together with the girls, underwent physical and skills trainings. Because we knew that we had to make up for the lack of skills with physical endurance.

Someone (unnamed to protect identity) asked me this, “Why your hall so siong one ar. Run 8 rounds the track one ar.”

My words for Hall 6 hockey team:

Tonight Hall 6 was not just behind you, we wanted to be with you. We were literally stepping into the field already. We saw what you guys did up there, you fought til the last minute. Yes, reflect on the mistakes we made, but be proud that we did not go down being beaten flat. Be proud of the fact that we were still running for and with the ball until the whistle was blown. It’s although a cliché to say this, but it’s always the process and not so much on the results. Hockey team has done Hall 6 proud by being so self disciplined in trainings and friendly matches. Gold or not, you’ve taught my players what Hall 6 spirit truly is. 

Someone (unnamed to protect identity) asked me this, “Eh, don’t be sad. You not disappointed right? QF.”

I’m not. I’m sad because I feel the disappointment together with you guys, not with you. We could all see it on your faces. But at the same time, we are truly proud that Hockey team has done us proud by moving up this far.
